Who is Infant Baptism for?

Infant baptism is available for children from newborns up to 7 years old. Children from 8 to 17 years old must attend the catechumenate for children or Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC), which begins every September, and will receive baptism, confirmation, and first communion on the Friday following the Easter Vigil.

Baptism Ceremony Schedule:

• Spanish: 2nd & 4th Saturday at 10 AM
• English: 3rd Saturday at 10 AM

Requirements for Baptism:

1. Baptism Preparation Classes are required for parents and godparents.
2. Submit the following documents to [email protected] or bring them in person to Elida. 
   • Child’s birth certificate
   • Baptism Registration Form (given in class)
   • Godparent’s Affirmation of Eligibility Form (given in class)
   • Proof of attendance at baptism classes (received after the second class)
3. The baptism date is not confirmed until you receive an email or notice from the Baptism Coordinator (Elida).

Baptism Classes:

• English: Held on the 1st & 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM in the FLC building.

• Spanish: Held on the 3rd & 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM in the FLC building.
• No registration is needed. Attendance at both classes is required to receive a certificate.

Godparent Requirements:

• Must be at least 16 years old and a baptized Catholic who has completed Holy Communion & Confirmation.
• If married, they must be married in the Catholic Church.
• Only one godparent is required, but if there are two, they must be one male and one female.
• They must live according to Christian values (married in the church or single).

Donation: Baptism ceremonies and classes at St. Bartholomew are free, though donations are welcome on the day of the ceremony.

El bautismo infantil está disponible para niños desde recién nacidos hasta los 7 años. Los niños de 8 a 17 años deben asistir al proceso de catecumenado (RCIC) para niños, que comienza cada septiembre, y recibirán el bautismo, la confirmación y la primera comunión el viernes siguiente a la Vigilia Pascual.

Requisitos para el Bautismo:

• Clases de Preparación para el Bautismo son obligatorias para los padres y padrinos.
• Enviar los siguientes documentos a [email protected] o entregarlos en persona a Elida:
  • Acta de nacimiento del niño
  • Formulario de Registro de Bautismo (entregado en clase)
  • Formulario de Afirmación de Elegibilidad del Padrino (entregado en clase)
  • Comprobante de asistencia a las clases de bautismo (recibido después de la segunda clase)
• La fecha del bautismo no se confirma hasta recibir un correo electrónico o aviso de la Coordinadora de Bautismo (Elida).

Clases de Bautismo:

• Inglés: 1.er y 2.º martes del mes a las 6:30 PM en el edificio FLC.
• Español: 3.er y 4.º martes del mes a las 6:30 PM en el edificio FLC.
• No es necesario registrarse. Se requiere asistencia a ambas clases para recibir el certificado.

Ceremonias de Bautismo:

• Español: Cada 2.º y 4.º sábado del mes a las 10 AM
• Inglés:  Cada 3.º sábado del mes a las 10 AM

Requisitos para los Padrinos:

• Deben tener al menos 16 años y ser católicos bautizados que hayan recibido la Primera Comunión y la Confirmación.
• Si están casados, deben estar casados por la Iglesia Católica.
• Se requiere solo un padrino, pero si hay dos, deben ser un hombre y una mujer.
• Deben vivir de acuerdo con los valores cristianos (casados por la Iglesia o solteros).
