Because Ash Wednesday is not a holy day of obligation, St. Bartholomew offers two types of liturgies to help meet the demand for opportunities to receive ashes.  Five Masses will be offered with the distribution of ashes included in the proper place within the liturgy, and seven Liturgies of the Word (including readings, distribution of ashes, intercessory prayer, and a closing prayer) will be offered as well. Masses are expected to last a little over an hour each.   Liturgies of the Word will last about 40 minutes each.

Ashes will not be distributed outside of a Mass or Liturgy of the Word, in accordance with the instructions for the Ash Wednesday rite, which are outlined in the Roman Missal.

As always, anyone who is feeling ill or has knowingly come into contact with someone who is ill, particularly with COVID-19, should remain at home rather than coming to a liturgical celebration.

Ya que Miércoles de Ceniza NO ES un día de obligación, San Bartolomé ofrecerá dos tipos de Liturgia para satisfacer la demanda y dar oportunidad a todos de recibir las cenizas. Se ofrecerán cinco Misas con la distribución de cenizas incluida en el espacio apropiado dentro de la Liturgia y también siete Liturgias de la Palabra (incluye las lecturas, distribución de cenizas, oración de intercesión y oración final, sin Comunión).  Se anticipa que las Misas durarán un poco más de una hora. La Liturgia de la Palabra dura aproximadamente 40 minutos. 

Las cenizas no se distribuirán fuera de una Misa o Liturgia de la Palabra, de acuerdo con las instrucciones para el rito del Miércoles de Ceniza, que se describen en el Misal Romano.

Como siempre, si alguien se siente enfermo o ha estado en contacto con alguna persona que está enferma, particularmente con Covid-19, debe permanecer en casa en lugar de atender a cualquiera de estas celebraciones Litúrgicas.
