Who We Are:
We, as the worshiping Catholic Community of St. Bartholomew, are the established parish in the growing city of Katy. Located within the Diocese of Galveston-Houston, we are closely bound to and in communion with the Universal Roman Catholic Church. We began as a mission to Sacred Heart in Brookshire, and now we are a parish on a mission. We are united as people of God through Baptism in support of one another as we try to discern God’s path for us and proclaim the good news.
We are a people with a rich mixture of cultural, educational, ethnic, and economic background, composed from young to older families and singles. We are a parish family desiring to be in close relationship with God and each other at St. Bartholomew and in the Katy community. Our suburban as well as rural community is unique because the desire to help is deeply ingrained in each parishioner. Many parishioners lack extended families living nearby and seek that “familiness” in the church.
What We Believe:
We believe that as members of the Body of Christ, we are one family, sharing our talents and gifts in service and charity to one another. Each person is needed and is important to the life, peace and happiness of the community. We all have a share in building up the Body of Christ at St. Bartholomew.
We are a pilgrim people on a journey to continue the mission of Jesus on earth, through the Holy Spirit. We are the living stones that cooperate to provide stability through faith in the Cornerstone, Jesus Christ.
Our Call to Action:
-
Through Education we are called to provide the formation of faith to the people of our community especially our youths, to reach out and share our individual talents, time, and possessions in support of human dignity, meeting the needs of people in St. Bartholomew and the Katy community.
-
Our respect for Family Life calls us to coordinate activities that bear directly on family life and provide programs to strengthen and enrich our families.
-
To help in perfecting the expression of our Faith, we are called to have a rich, meaningful Liturgy and to nurture the growth of faith through the various spiritual activities in our community.
-
Because we are a community that enjoys Fellowship, we are called to provide an atmosphere of friendship and hospitality.
